If you are looking for a place to try the genuine taste of hummus in Berlin, then you are in the right place. Zula is located in Prenzlauer Berg, one of Berlin’s most charismatic residential neighbourhoods, filled with cafes, historic buildings and indie boutiques.
Zula word refers to the place where you are happiest and relaxed. a place you’re most comfortable.
The restaurant is small and cozy, with a few tables inside and a couple of tables outside. As you enter the restaurant, you will notice the details on every corner of the restaurant. I always had that thing with small restaurants; it gives that comfy feeling and a great dining experience.
We started our meal with a super refreshing mint lemonade, made from freshly-squeezed lemon juice and spearmint leaves. Mint lemonade is a very popular summer drink throughout the Middle East.
Though hummus is of course their main focus, they serve it plain or with mashed fava beans as ful, with tomatoes, vegetables or chicken and even with Goulash. We chose hummus without any toppings. And of course we also had to try the spinach falafel, it was my first time to try falafel with spinach and it was amazing, we highly recommend it.
Hummus and Falafel are served with freshly baked pita bread, they bake their pita bread twice a day to make sure it’s always fresh. We also had a refreshing chopped salad and some pickled olives and pickled cucumbers all the way from the holy land.
The staff was so very helpful, Yonatan who served us was always nearby, willing to exchange some kind words with all his guests. We had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavors. For this reason we highly recommend going to Zula .
